My first Vlog is now live!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to share a quick update. =)

My very first vlog has just finished uploading! I hope you'll view and subscribe. I'm pretty excited about starting a vlog, although I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with it yet. I invite you to come and check it out, hopefully it will entertain you!

I'm now on deviantART!

Hello again everyone! I'm here to keep you update you quickly on another site I joined.

I am once again a member of deviantART. I've realised it's been over two years since my last activity on my old account, so I created a new one with a better username. =)

If you want to see my old work, you can find it as user Zakura124. Be warned, some of it is pretty bad.

I will edit my blog eventually to have a prominent display of the sites I'm at so it's easy to find me online.

Introduction

I've always felt that before actually diving in to a blog, it's necessary to make a post introducing myself and the purpose of the blog. As you might have guessed, this is that post. =)

My name is Alexa. To sum myself up as briefly as I can, I'm a writer and a tech geek. I love to write, especially fantasy and sci-fi, and I'm even working on what I hope will one day be my first novel. I love to discover and do things on the internet. YouTube, Digg, and MMORPG games like Mabinogi take up a lot of my time.

This blog is going to be documenting a sort of experiment of mine. I'm not exactly looking for a particular result, but being 17 years old I'm extremely curious about a lot of things, including whether the internet can help or hinder me getting to some self-set goals.

Some of my goals include seeing what it takes to get popular on the internet, self improvement, improving my writing, and really seeing how to balance getting the most from the internet without sacrificing your offline time.

More specifically, I hope to write my book, improve myself and my self-confidence (I'd love not to be so shy >.>), explore the possibility of vlogging (maybe even more blogging?) and putting art on deviantART, and still have time for school work, games, and generally geeking out. :p

Obviously this isn't a very strict experiment, if you can even call it that. Since I'm just starting out, the whole concept of it is subject to change. But hopefully if nothing else, it'll be interesting for me and for any of you who choose to read and join me with this. XD

(If you can't already tell, I love using smileys. Perhaps that's unprofessional, but I feel the post seems rather unfriendly without them. >.<)

Anyway, before I end this post, I'm going to link to some of the places I'm at on the internet. I'd be very happy if you join me if the sites/service interest you. =)

• Twitter Some love it, some hate it. You have 140 characters to update people on what's going on in your life...or to share links and pictures (or videos or quotes...) Personally I don't follow anyone I know in real life because none of them see the point so none of them are members. I'm still trying to see the use in it myself (I'm determined to get addicted to it for some reason. O.o)
• Digg I came across this the other day, and it's a great site for reading interesting news and bits of information that others discover. It's very customizable (for example, you can opt out of seeing sport related entries), and honestly it's very entertaining.
• YouTube This is my "general" YouTube channel that I use on a daily basis. I have a random assortment of uploaded videos that honestly most people don't care about. I have several subscribers to my favorites though, so maybe you'll find something you like there? If I start a vlog, I already have a separate channel for that, and I'll link to it later if it becomes a reality. =)
